Updated 23 October 2026. Prices and availability may change before Halloween.

Halloween is almost here, and supermarkets are battling to offer the cheapest pumpkins for 2026. Whether you’re planning a family pumpkin-carving evening, decorating your doorstep or looking for a giant pumpkin to impress the neighbours, there are some surprisingly cheap options this October.

We’ve compared Halloween pumpkin prices at Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and M&S to find the best deals. And with some pumpkins costing children to carve. Large and extra-large pumpkins are better suited to elaborate designs or doorstep decorations.

We’ve included confirmed prices and clearly marked those that still need checking. Not every supermarket uses the same size categories, so these aren’t exact like-for-like comparisons by weight.

The best Halloween pumpkin deals this week

Aldi: mini pumpkins now advertised at just 35p

Our pick for cheap Halloween decorations

Aldi’s website is currently advertising its munchkin pumpkins at just 35p, reduced from 39p, while its medium pumpkins are listed at 49p, reduced from 55p.

That means you could buy four miniature pumpkins for just £1.40, making a colourful autumn display without spending much at all.

Aldi also lists large pumpkins at £1.69 and extra-large pumpkins at £2.39.

One particularly useful detail is Aldi’s pumpkin price-match guarantee, which runs until 1 November 2026. The supermarket says it will match a lower price for an equivalent-sized pumpkin at selected competing supermarkets, subject to its conditions and exclusions for promotional prices and multibuys.

Tesco: carving pumpkins for 55p and a new Clubcard deal

    Best for Clubcard shoppers

Tesco’s standard pumpkin is listed at 55p as part of its Aldi Price Match.

Its large pumpkin normally costs £2, but a new Clubcard offer reduces the price to £1.60 for deliveries from 23 October until 2 November 2026.

Mini munchkin pumpkins cost 60p each, or two for £1 with Clubcard, making them 50p each when buying two.

For anyone who already shops at Tesco, this is a convenient way to get a carving pumpkin without making a separate supermarket trip just to save a few pennies.

    Morrisons: munchkin pumpkins for 39p

Morrisons has another excellent offer for families decorating on a budget. Its online range lists munchkin pumpkins, measuring approximately 6–12cm, at 39p each.

Its standard pumpkin, measuring approximately 14–19cm, is 59p, while its larger 20–25cm pumpkin costs £1.75.

Asda: small pumpkins reported at £1

Worth checking during your weekly shop

Asda has been reported as selling small pumpkins for £1, although we have not independently verified that specific product price on its live grocery website.

Its large pumpkin was also listed at £1.72 in a recent Halloween price comparison.

If you’re shopping at Asda this weekend, check the size and price displayed in your local store before buying. A £1 pumpkin may still be good value if it’s noticeably bigger than the 49p or 55p options elsewhere.

Lidl: another budget option for carving pumpkins

Lidl is also competing for Halloween shoppers, with standard pumpkins reported at 55p, large pumpkins at £1.69 and monster pumpkins at £2.39 in recent comparisons.

However, Lidl’s own Halloween pumpkin page currently directs customers to check prices in store, so we would recommend confirming these offers locally.

    Sainsbury’s: medium pumpkins for 59p

Sainsbury’s is listing its medium pumpkin for 59p, making it another affordable choice for a small Halloween carving project.

A supermarket comparison carried out on 7 October also recorded large pumpkins at £2, although shoppers should check the latest price before buying.

Can you get a free Halloween pumpkin?

    Free pumpkin alert

Tesco is running a limited giveaway of free, pre-carved Halloween pumpkins at ten selected stores between 22 and 31 October 2026.

The promotion is taking place at participating locations on specific dates, rather than at every Tesco store. Pumpkins are available on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last.

Check whether your nearest participating store has an event before making a special journey.

    Does pumpkin size really matter?

It certainly does, especially when you’re comparing supermarket prices. A 49p medium pumpkin might be a bargain for a child’s carving project, but it won’t necessarily give you the same impact as a larger pumpkin costing £1.60.

    Mini pumpkins and munchkins

These are best for table decorations, windowsills and autumn displays. They’re usually too small for elaborate carving, but they’re an inexpensive way to add a little Halloween atmosphere.

    Medium pumpkins

A good option for family carving sessions, particularly if you have younger children who want to create their own designs. Look for a pumpkin with a reasonably flat base so it sits securely.

    Large and extra-large pumpkins

These are ideal for more ambitious designs and doorstep displays. However, they’re often heavier, harder to carry and more time-consuming to hollow out.

Use battery-powered LED candles rather than real flames, particularly around children, pets and outdoor decorations.

How to save even more money on Halloween pumpkins

    Five ways to avoid overspending

    1. Compare the size, not just the price. A larger pumpkin can be better value even if it costs more.
    2. Check loyalty card offers. Tesco’s Clubcard discount makes its large pumpkin particularly competitive.
    3. Don’t buy carving equipment unnecessarily. Reuse tools you already own, provided they’re suitable and used safely.
    4. Keep pumpkins cool before carving. This can help them stay fresh until Halloween.
    5. Use the edible parts. Pumpkin flesh and seeds can be used in cooking when handled and stored safely.

Can you eat your Halloween pumpkin?

Yes, provided it’s an edible variety and the flesh is fresh and has been handled safely. Carving pumpkins are often more watery and less flavourful than pumpkins grown specifically for cooking, but the flesh can still work well in soup, curry or stew.

Set aside the usable flesh while carving, refrigerate it promptly and cook or freeze it as appropriate. Don’t eat a carved pumpkin that has been sitting outdoors for days, and don’t assume ornamental gourds are edible.

The seeds can also be cleaned and roasted for a crunchy snack, helping you get more value from your Halloween purchase.

Which supermarket wins the cheapest pumpkin battle?

    Our verdict for Halloween 2026

Based on the latest advertised offers we’ve found, Aldi currently leads on mini and medium pumpkins, with prices of 35p and 49p respectively.

Tesco is an excellent alternative for standard carving pumpkins at 55p, and its £1.60 Clubcard deal on large pumpkins is particularly attractive.

Morrisons also deserves a mention for its 39p munchkin pumpkins, while Lidl and Sainsbury’s remain competitive on smaller carving pumpkins.

Our advice? Don’t spend several pounds travelling between supermarkets to save 10p on a pumpkin. The best bargain is often the one you can pick up during your normal weekly shop.

Price-check note: This guide was updated on 23 October 2026 using retailer product pages, supermarket announcements and recent published comparisons. Prices, loyalty offers and stock availability may vary by store and can change at short notice. Reported prices not independently confirmed on a current retailer listing have been identified in the article.
