    Cover Genius launches platforms

    Wed, 28th Oct 2026 (Today)
    MARA SUGUENews Editor

Cover Genius has launched Agentic Embedded Protection for AI commerce platforms, designed to let AI agents offer protection within consumer conversations.

The service allows platforms to present context-aware protection during chat-based transactions without sending users to an external checkout flow.

It is Cover Genius’s first protection product built specifically for agentic commerce, where AI tools are starting to move from answering questions to completing purchases on users’ behalf. The product is aimed at consumer AI assistants, vertical commerce platforms, enterprise software providers and payment infrastructure groups.

The system can be used across transaction types including travel bookings, ticket purchases and retail orders, with examples including cover for flight delays, travel cancellations, ticket refunds and retail purchases.

AI platforms can deploy the product in different ways. One option is to embed personalised protection directly into a native conversational workflow. Another is to use payment-level integrations to offer protection products at scale.

    Consumer control

Cover Genius also pointed to consumer research on how people want AI agents to handle protection products. Its 2026 Embedded Protection Market Research Report found that 78% of consumers are open to AI agents making bookings or purchases on their behalf, but fewer than 7% want an agent to select or buy paid protection autonomously.

The same research found that 87% of shoppers weigh potential risks before completing a purchase and 81% engage seriously when protection is offered. The findings suggest consumers prefer a model in which an AI agent recommends protection but the customer approves it.

Travel emerged as the category with the strongest stated interest in this type of workflow, with 82% of travel bookers open to using AI assistance with their bookings.

The product works by taking unstructured session context from an AI agent, such as a multi-city travel itinerary, a high-value retail purchase or a cross-border shipment. Cover Genius then returns a relevant protection offer, with pricing and regulatory disclosures shown inside the chat interface.

Depending on the deployment model, protection can either be automatically included on eligible transactions or presented to the user for approval during checkout. Policy questions can also be handled inside the chat environment, while claims and post-purchase servicing are routed through XCover, its consumer-facing platform.

    Regulatory footprint

The service is built on infrastructure spanning more than 60 countries and all 50 US states. Cover Genius works with more than 200 merchant partners and has direct access to more than 50 carrier partners.

The <a In emerging commerce channels, building trust at checkout is critical to driving conversion," he said.

He added that protection products have historically helped consumers accept unfamiliar ways to buy goods and services online. “Historically, protection has been the key lever that gives consumers confidence to adopt new transaction technologies. We built our agentic protection infrastructure to simplify the underlying regulatory and technical complexity of conversational commerce, allowing AI platforms to launch protection capabilities in weeks rather than quarters and deliver buying confidence at the precise moment of purchase,” McDonald said.
