Play games, get paid. Lots of mobile apps make this promise.
Sounds good, right? Especially in this expensive economy.
Do these apps really pay you to play games, though?
In many cases, you’re making the app developers money when you including slots, cards and battles.
Some game apps, like Solitaire Cube, for example, let you play against other users.
Cash-out minimums can be a pain, but JustPlay usually doesn’t require one, which Reddit posters like.
Like, for real? (I tried a couple)
I (Tommy Tindall, co-writer of this piece) downloaded and spent a couple hours on Mistplay. After four surveys and lots of time tapping away in “Monopoly Go!” — one of numerous games you can download — I contemplated putting a nail through my phone screen to make it stop.
All that precious time netted just 693 points, which is 6,657 <a t comfortable answering (like about my family and political persuasion).
InboxDollars did add an initial $5 to my balance just for verifying my email, which was nice. I’m at $5.50 after an hour or so of survey-taking. It’d take many more hours to reach the required $15 minimum for a gift card.
Granted, I’m a newbie who doesn’t find mobile gaming very interesting, so these apps are a tough sell for me. Your results may vary.
