Some may scoff at the idea of a traditional 9-to-5 job. Others may want one but can’t get one in a job market that’s been fairly stagnant.
If you’re seeking something else, or you want to make ends meet until you find something permanent, there are plenty of opportunities to consider.
1. Participate in paid market research
How about a few extra bucks a month? Paid market research is a thing, but we’re not kidding when we say a few extra bucks. Sites like UserTesting.com, for example, pay participants for their opinions on products, websites.
The “work” can include taking surveys for money, joining focus groups or signing up for medical research. In some cases, you get paid to test medicines or treatments.
NerdWallet writer Tommy Tindall tried to register for UserTesting.com, but hasn’t been approved yet. It’s the same situation with popular paid study site Prolific.
“Those are two of the more reputable market research sites, which means they have stricter screening processes.”
Some of the more gimmicky game and survey apps are much easier to get started with, he says.
“With apps like Mistplay, JustPlay and InboxDollars, the catch is, it’s kind of a spammy experience that only nets you coffee money for hours of your time.”
How much you earn from games and surveys and how you receive the payout will vary. Some sites pay participants with points that translate to cash over time, some pay an hourly rate and some pay in gift cards.
